On February 14, violinists Danbi Um and Paul Huang shared their fitting “Dialogues” duo program together with pianist Orion Weiss for a packed audience at the Chamber Music in the Barns at Wolf Trap. In his review in Washington Classical Review, Charles Downey writes, “…her more viscous, robust sound was thrilling…Um leaned into the yearning phrases of the second movement, the broad tone of her instrument standing out from the complex texture.” In addition to noting her “especially soaring” harmonics in the world premiere Chris Rogerson’s Afterword, Downey noted that “Um’s torch-song tone, guttural and raspy on the G string, was the highlight of Amy Barlowe’s Hebraique Elegy for two violins.”
