Project Description: (re)discovering Tango

Argentinian author Jorge Luis Borges said of the Tango that it “Converts the outrage of the

years into a music.” This program tells the story of the Tango over the years, as different

cultures fused together to create its special character. Spanish music, African dances, and Italian

Opera set the scene in the first half, while the second half showcases the possibilities that Tango

presents today, with music for Bandoneon and Piano Trio by JP Jofre.
